Study Purpose

To better understand adolescents’ experiences with bias-based harassment. Bias-based harassment is peer victimization related to gender identity, religion, immigration status, sexual orientation, race, and ethnicity. The Peer Experiences Project will study how experiences with bias-based harassment change over time and are influenced by different risk and protective factors in a range of settings.

Bias-Based Harassment

The study will seek to understand adolescents’ experiences with bias-based harassment when they have been the target of harassment, when they have been an aggressor, and harassment that they have witnessed or observed. This study will also seek to understand the impact of bias-based harassment on psychological wellbeing and school functioning.
